Family Friendly Kitchen
Living in the countryside with a barn and horses, this client wanted to update their home to capture the charm, warmth, and simplicity of country living but with the quality, elegance, and features of custom design. This project included work in the kitchen, laundry, pantry and main living areas. We started by removing multiple walls to create a more open concept. We relocated the laundry room and built a larger walk-in pantry. We turned the screened porch into a sunroom with a new fireplace to enjoy the views on a cold winter day. In the family room, we smoothed the ceilings, added recessed lighting, removed wallpaper, and added new wood treads to the stairs along with an iron railing, painting and new carpet. In the kitchen, we started by removing walls and creating a larger walk-in pantry with custom shelving. We relocated the laundry to be more private and quiet. We also added fully custom cabinets by Omega Cabinetry. These cabinets are inset door and drawer style with pull-out trays throughout. We chose the lighter wood finish to reflect the charm of equestrian living while blending with the clean, straight edges in the doors to bring out the fine quality and craftsmanship of the cabinets. The island is a bold, deep red which adds touch of warmth to the open space. The countertops are by Cambria and the appliances are all stainless steel appliances by GE. The tile backsplash is the same travertine material as used on the floor, which features a simple straight pattern with inlaid medallions. Finally, we installed recessed and under-cabinet lighting to brighten up the work areas when needed.
